Medical team rebuilds limb tissue to avert amputation

A medical team from Baha University has recently conducted several successful surgical operations to rebuild limb tissue in cases of imminent amputation, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The surgical operations, supervised by Salih Al-Ghamdi, assistant professor at the College of Medicine, included complicated cases involving patients suffering from serious injuries and inflammation in the hands, as well as patients threatened with amputation in the wake of accidents, said Abdulrahman Al-Ghamdi, head of PR at the university.
In addition, reconstructive surgery using adipofascial flaps was conducted on different cases, such as ankle reconstruction for an 80-year-old man, tissue reconstruction for a younger male adult and surgery on a resident suffering from a severe injury to the hand, he said.
