YANBU: Al-Muzain lifted the MoneyGram Cricket Ke Badshah Twenty20 trophy when eased past Pak Crescent ‘A’ by nine wickets in the final of the Yanbu Al Sinaiya Cricket Association-organized tournament held under the patronage of the Saudi Cricket Association, here.
Pak Crescent ‘A’ won the toss and elected to bat. In the first over Naveed of Al-Muzain bowled Arif for a duck. Thereafter wickets started falling at regular intervals. However a 40-run partnership between Zahid (27) and Nadeem (15) helped their team finish with a total of 160 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Sohail took 3 for 30, while captain Israr chipped in with 2 for 28.
In response, Al-Muzain openers Shoaib and Naveed started briskly scoring 50 runs for the first wicket, which came off 3.6 overs. Shoaib fell to Nadeem when the score was 78 and his individual score was 44 runs.
Later, Naveed joined by the captain Israr as both stroked freely. They achieved the required runs without losing any more wickets, which came off only 12.1 overs. Naveed scored an unbeaten 84 runs (5 fours and 9 sixes) and Israr was not out with 29 runs.
Hood Awwad Al-Hetairshi, Director, General Utilities Department Royal Commission of Yanbu, Abdul Jabbar, Director, Social Service Department, Royal Commission of Yanbu and Nadeem Nadwi, CEO of Saudi Cricket Center were the guests of honor and distributed the prizes.
Earlier, Akram Quershi, President of Yanbu Cricket Association welcomed the guests.
