The Royal Commission in Yanbu is endeavoring to turn the city into an important tourist destination by developing a variety of tourism and recreational facilities along the 11 km stretch of the Red Sea coastline.
Several luxury hotels, resorts and exclusive diving villages are being planned in the city in addition to four artificial islands for recreational facilities. It will also have a marina complex that will include a wide range of boats and yachts.
The Royal Commission’s senior official in Yanbu, Atif Al-Ghadi told Arab News that the development of Yanbu’s waterfront is RCY’s top priority. “We are being helped in this by Dr. Alaa bin Abdullah Nasif, the Royal Commission in Yanbu CEO,” he said.
He also said there were efforts to promote a healthier environment and provide adequate physical fitness facilities along with recreational facilities on the beaches. “Visitors will be able to exercise while enjoying the superb views of the Red Sea,” he added.
“We will be providing physical fitness facilities on the waterfront in three different places. A total of 55 pieces of physical exercise equipment will be installed,” Atif Al Ghadi said.
He said that the Royal Commission had installed such equipment in the Yanbu Corniche last year and that there were more to be put up this year. “We may install some more depending on the visitors’ demand,” he said.
Al-Ghadi said that the Yanbu Industrial City is the only city on the Red Sea coast to have physical fitness equipment provided to the public free of cost.
The official said that the Royal commission is working to develop a state-of-the-art recreational and sporting facility for children and families.
