Abdul Latif Jameel (ALJ) and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan have formed a joint venture for the Saudi distribution rights for Komatsu, a major Japanese brand of heavy equipment.
Announcing the launch of the new joint venture company, Abdul Latif Jameel Heavy Equipment (ALJHE), at a press conference held here, Mohammad Arif Chishti, MD of ALJHE, said the company would be involved in the nation’s development through the supply of these machinery.
“The Kingdom’s construction sector is buoyant and hence we could help develop the industry with the supply of these heavy equipment,” Chishti said, pointing out that although there are many participants in the construction industry, the Kingdom is a large market and the best services and products get their due share in the market. He stressed that the partnership will provide Saudi Arabia with the latest and reliable Japanese heavy equipment brand.
“We will be able to provide employment opportunities for the local youths too,” he noted.
ALJHE will provide technologically advanced Komatsu equipment to the Saudi market, including excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, motor-graders, rigid and articulated dump trucks.
Chishti also said ALJ’s investment in the heavy equipment sector is aligned to Abdul Latif Jameel’s commitment toward advancing the development of Saudi Arabia. “By providing world-class construction and allied equipment coupled with top quality guest support standards, as well as Shariah-compliant financing, we are doing more than just supplying products.”
Saudi Arabia’s construction industry is witnessing an increasing demand for heavy equipment due to the large number of projects in various sectors. Many of these projects are of national interest. ALJHE will contribute toward strengthening the heavy equipment sector’s role in the development of the national economy, he added.
“Guest care is central to our business. We endeavor to become our guests’ preferred partners, supporting them through the life of their equipment. Our scope includes initial consultancy advice on the type of products they should buy or rent, proposing financing solutions, service agreements, onsite repairs operator training, technical training, immediate availability of parts and more. Our guest support standards ensure best in class up-time, thereby providing optimum utilization of the equipment.”
Komatsu Ltd. was established in Japan in 1921 and is recognized globally as a leading brand of heavy equipment. Komatsu Heavy Equipment is not entirely new in Saudi Arabia, it is present in the Kingdom for over 40 years.
