The Al Hanouf Group and Mount Sinai Hospital recently signed an agreement to build a medical city ‘Al Hanouf-Mount Sinai Medical Rehabilitation’ with a capacity of 1,000 beds at the cost of SR700 million for special needs patients in Riyadh.
Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the oldest and largest teaching hospitals in the United States. The medical city will start its operations by 2017 and will include a rehabilitation center that can accommodate 400 to 600 patients as well as a medical care center with 200 beds.
Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Almuhaize, chairman of Al Hanouf Group said, “The Saudi government motivates and supports investors and businessmen to invest and participate in the services that are related to people with special needs.”
The agreement between the two companies aims to share the management and operation of the Al Hanouf-Mount Sinai Medical City for the rehabilitation of people with special needs in Riyadh.
Dr. Almuhaize, “There is no hospital in Saudi Arabia which is specialized in one field of medicine.”
Almuhaize said that the idea of creating a specialized hospital for the rehabilitation of the disabled was not born of the moment but was 15 years in the making because he realized that the disabled need urgent care and attention and premium medical services.
Dr. Arthur Klein, deputy chairman and chief executive officer of Mount Sinai hospital, said: “It is the first time for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to open the first group of hospitals in Riyadh. We will create a joined medical city compound that specializes in people with special needs in Riyadh.”

Al Hanouf Group is the first national institution in the Kingdom which provides service centers, home care and social care institutions for disabled children with 70 centers including 22 in the Riyadh region alone.
