The Royal Commission in Jubail is preparing to host the 16th annual Garden and Plant Festival on Feb. 19, which will be held at Al-Fanateer beach. The 10-day festival, which is held under the slogan of “Jubail … a homeland’s destination,” will include a variety of event, activities and competitions.
A number of GCC member countries such as the UAE, represented by the Emirate of Ajman and Al-Ain City, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain, will take part in the festival together with a number of Saudi governmental entities. The festival will feature more than 200,000 plants, and is expected to attract more than 250,000 visitors.
The festival’s site area has increased 60 percent from last year’s event to accommodate the growing number of visitors.
This year, the festival organizers have further distributed the activity sites in a bid to avoid the overcrowding witnessed last year. The RC Landscaping and Irrigation Department engineers will hold a number of scientific and outreach sessions regarding landscaping and the optimum methods for irrigation and maintenance.
In addition, a special area will be dedicated for the festival’s mascot/character “Muzhir.” The festival aims to raise awareness about environmental issues by enlightening visitors about plants and flowers, their uses, relevant types for the region, and the way to take care of them.
In addition, the festival hosts a variety of educational and entertaining competitions for the visitors.
Special products related to home landscaping and gardening will be also be exhibited.
