PISJ students awarded for academic excellence

The Pakistan International School in Azizia (PISJ-Azizia) distributed awards and medals to girls of the senior secondary school for their excellent academic performance at the school’s premises in Azizia recently.
The program was organized by the Helping Hands, a charitable organization which awarded the students with gold, silver and bronze medals with the aim to encourage them and enhance their participation in future activities.
Mubshra Tariq Qasmi received a medal, a cash prize and a gift for obtaining the 3rd position in the board exams.
Afshan Khokar, chief guest, wife of Pakistan consul General, Amrana Siddiqui, Helping Hands chairperson and guest of honor, the vice principal of PISJ, students and parents were welcomed by Bintul Hassan, a senior teacher at PISJ.
The program began with a recitation from the holy Qur’an by Maryam Nazir, translation by Saba Bebe and a religious rendition by Makrima Hamid. The students of Aysha House, Khadija house, Maryam house and Fatima house also competed in singing patriotic songs of Pakistan and were applauded by the audience.
Hassan outlined the mission and vision of Helping Hands as an organization to help the needy, promote students’ activities, assist students with their fees and with the marriages of underprivileged girls in the community.
Rakshanda Massood Puri, founder and president of Helping Hands appreciated the community’s cooperation with the organization and thanked the vice principal, Farhat Naeem for providing them the opportunity to award the distinguished students for their excellent academic performance.
Farhat Naeem thanked Puri and presented her with an appreciation shield. Khokhar also appreciated and admired the efforts of Puri to help the needy in the community.
Khokhar told students to aspire to high ideals and concentrate on their studies as education is the key to success and enhances participation in the development and progress of the country.
The winners of the patriotic songs singing contest were as follows: Khadija house came first; Ayesha house was second, Maryam house was third and Fatima house scored 4th position.
