Senior officials from Hitachi, the Japanese manufacturing giant, signed a cooperation agreement with Jazan University officials on Wednesday.
Prof. Ibrahim Abu Hadi of Jazan University said on Thursday that “Prof. Mohammed Al-Hiazaa, Jazan University rector, and Hitachi senior officials held a meeting on the university campus. They signed an agreement for Hitachi to provide training and research in engineering subjects in the field of mechanical, electrical and industrial engineering, in addition to solar power and water treatment plants.”
Jazan University is said to be playing an important role in the new era of development taking over the southern province of Jazan.
The institution is contributing to significant regional growth. It houses thousands of expats from all over the world. Efforts are now being exerted to raise the standard of the university to the standards of internationally reputed institutions. Hitachi has also offered its expertise in the field of water treatment, renewable energy and energy-saving, he said.
He said that Hitachi also offered to provide assistance and training to Jazan University students in research skills, which can boost employment opportunities.
Jazan University had also signed an international cooperation agreement with the Illinois University Medical Center in the US.
The University of Illinois is set to engage in the medical teaching of academic staff at the university and help in the development of an advanced medical education system in Jazan.
