New principal takes charge of PISJ-ES

The newly appointed acting principal of the Pakistan International School-Jeddah (English Section), Imran Raza Khan, officially took charge of the school Sunday in the presence of teachers, students, parents and Link Officer Sohail Ali Khan.
The former principal, Sehar Kamran, was sacked by Pakistan Ambassador Mohammed Naeem Khan on Nov. 19.
The new principal told Arab News that one of his top priorities would be to address the increase in tuition fees and other student-related issues.
“I thank Allah for bestowing this honor on me,” said Raza Khan. “The decision to appoint me as acting principal of PISJ-ES was taken by the ambassador. Parents have been complaining for a long time, but now they will be able to have a platform from which they can address their concerns.”
Raza Khan said the parents would soon be notified of the formation of a committee of parents which will actively work on resolving problems that parents and students have faced in the past. “Things will improve gradually,” said Raza Khan.
He said he had an action plan for resolving the problem of the hike in school fees and that a decision to reduce them would be taken in consultation with the committee of parents.
Raza Khan said he will have an open-door policy. “Parents can come and see me any time to discuss their concerns,” he said.
On Sunday, the new principal held a meeting with teachers and students and assured them that everything will be set right.
Sohail Khan, the link officer, said the Pakistani community was grateful to the Saudi authorities, particularly the Ministry of Education, for playing a major role in restoring normalcy to the institution.
Parents welcomed the change and credited the Pakistan Consul General Aftab Khokher and the Ministry of Education for resolving the issue by appointing a new principal.
“We were looking for this positive change because the problems were affecting our children’s education,” said Faisal Khan, a parent. “We are happy that the Ministry of Education paid heed to our complaints and took the right action by sacking the former principal.”
