Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh appoints new GM

The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh has announced the appointment of Adel Al-Mahboob as its new GM. Saudi national Al-Mahboob brings more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, and has worked across the sales, marketing and operations departments.
Al-Mahboob joins the Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh, following its wins at the inaugural Saudi Excellence in Tourism Awards and the world’s leading travel awards at the recent Arabian Travel Market in Dubai. The palatial hotel was also named the Best Business Hotel in Riyadh by the Business Traveler Awards.
“Adel has a proven record within the hospitality industry, substantial knowledge of the travel industry and great expertise in operating within the region. We are excited to have him on board and look forward to his assistance in further developing our presence in the Kingdom and the region,” said Bob Kharazmi, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company global officer worldwide operations.
“I am excited to take on the role of GM and join the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company family. It will be a remarkable learning and development curve for me,” Al-Mahboob said.
Al-Mahboob has a degree in hospitality from Cornell University in the United States and has worked with international brands such as Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts and Crowne Plaza as well as local entities such as the Al-Direya Palace for Royal Protocol in Saudi Arabia.
He had international training exposure at the Intercontinental Miami and New York and Intercontinental London, before moving back to Saudi Arabia to take on the role of executive assistant manager, rooms division at the Intercontinental Riyadh. Over the course of two years, he rose through the ranks to resident manager and then to hotel manager.
Following his time at the Intercontinental Riyadh, he took on the position of GM for the Al Direya Palace for Royal Protocol in Riyadh.
