Patriotic students at the PISJ-ES (Pakistan International School Jeddah-English Section) created a huge national flag recently with their thumbprints.
The project was completed at the school’s sports ground yesterday.
Parents and community members will gather today at the school from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to hold special events.
Yesterday’s event began with a recitation from the holy Qur’an, prayers to bless the country and the singing of the national anthem.
School Principal Sen. Sehar Kamran said each thumb impression showed the resolve of everyone to help develop the country.
“It is our duty to keep our flag flying high and work together for a prosperous and sovereign Pakistan. It is a life-long commitment.
You have to serve, defend and contribute to the progress of Pakistan. You have to bring out the best in yourself, by educating yourself and living only to ensure Pakistan’s success.”
She said the students are the “future architects of Pakistan. Let’s pray that Allah may bestow His blessings on our beloved Pakistan and protect our country from all disasters and enemies.”
The students expressed their enthusiasm by painting their faces with the colors of the Pakistani flag and wore national flag colors on their badges, shirts, caps and wristbands. Even Saudi teachers participated enthusiastically in the event.
Kamran also prayed for the long life of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
