Habagat sweeps to Team of Week honors in Sarawat Thursday League

Habagat, toppling pins like they were being swept away by the wind it was named after, claimed Team of the Week honors in the Sarawat Thursday Bowling League 9th Season at the Sultanah Center’s Bowling City here.
Habagat went 2-1 in the first two games and this hot start cushioned its march to the coveted award on 28 points.
Kabayan Food, the first game winner, returned the second-best tally of 26 points to cement its grip on the top spot in the five-man team tournament with third game topnotcher Boleros three points adrift on 23.
OFBC tallied 18 points to be in fourth place on the night with D’ Barkads on 16. Bowling City, Escalera and Thumbs-up filled the last three spots.
To Eidris Mangoda of Kabayan Food went the Bowler of the Week award after he shot the high series of 609 on lines of 245, 181 and 180.
The handicap-rich Habagat got a lift from one of its heavy lineup of Class C players, Ver Jasa, who fired the team’s top score of 604 on games of 183, 214 and 162.
George Mangalindan and Richard Antonio, who also are both Class C, supported Jasa with rounds of 599 and 598 to go with the 179-174 from Jimmy Aragones, 165-177 from Ruel Santoc and 193-161 from Manny Tibay. Along with Hadi Pacheco Aragones and Santoc are the only rated Class B on the team.
Kabayan sustained its solid form from the previous week and this time it was Mangoda that showed the way. The trio of Rolly Vistal, Igna Salgado and Rene Martinez all played full games at 583, 575 and 566 in that order. Mohammed Al Amri contributed two games of 168-178 while Joel Alegre had 166.
