Helping Hand comes to the aid of children

The Helping Hand charitable organization of Pakistani women presented cash prizes and shields to deserving students of Pakistan International School Jeddah, Azizia Section, on Wednesday.
The program was organized by the charity under the sponsorship of the Pakistan Consulate in Jeddah at the school premises. Helping Hand also announced a scholarship for top but needy student.
The chief guest, Afshan Khokhar, wife of Pakistan consul general, guest of honor Waseem Sikander, wife of link officer, and Imrana Siddique, wife of a vice consul, a number of school principals and other members of the community attended the event.
“I am here on behalf of my group, Helping Hand ... I feel very proud and happy that Pakistani women are doing something to make a change in society and helping the needy. The students of today will be our future generation, so helping them means building a stronger generation and country,” said Khokhar.
Rakshanda Puri, president and founder of the organization, appreciated their work and extended her support for their activities.
“Today our organization is giving out cash prizes and shields to 13 top students from Grades 5 to 8 for their best curriculum activities, and hosting lunch for 360. We are also going to announce payment of the whole year’s fees for 24 children,” she said, adding, “Twenty cases of school fee defaulters have already been solved with our efforts and we will do the same in future and help as many pupils as we can.”
She also thanked Bintul Hasan, the PISJ teacher, and her team for helping organize the event.
Farhat Naeem, who joined recently as vice principal of the school, thanked Khokhar and Puri for their help and concern to pay the fees of the needy children.
She said the school was established more than 50 years ago and a number of its students are working in many parts of the world.
Children presented a number of plays, and songs to entertain the audience as well as spread the awareness and message of helping others in society.
