Spears: Brazilian grill redefined

Spears is a traditional Brazilian grill that offers an exciting Brazilian style of traditional Churrascaria to your table with a great variety of marinated meats grilled on swords and sliced directly onto your plate.
This kind of cooking method was first seen in Brazil, where for centuries, the Churracaria Restaurant cooked and served their "meat on swords". This unique idea was carried by trade winds to distant continents.
The restaurant is located on the second floor of the InterContinental hotel in Jeddah. It is situated next to the Fish Market restaurant. In fact, there is no wall separating them from each other but when you dine at Spears, you'll be sure not to feel the presence of the neighboring restaurant.
Spears décor is very exotic. As you walk in, you will notice the great space and earthy colors of the walls, chairs and floor. The restaurants has beautiful windows that overlook the Jeddah Corniche and Jeddah’s famous fountain which is visible, especially at night.
The décor makes you feel like you have gone back to the stone age, with Brazilian-inspired wooden sticks decorating the walls and the ceiling and simple wooden chairs embedded with velvet maroon cushions. The space at Spears seats up to 100 diners at once.
The restaurant is an all-you-can-eat setting, where your waiter starts by serving you a soup-of-the-day that changes almost everyday, then salads and side dishes with different kinds of breads, a basket of French fries and rice. I really enjoyed the warm bread and butter, which was baked at the restaurant’s in-house bakery and placed on a wooden board to make it easy to slice. The salad was very basic, with tomatoes, lettuce, olives, carrots and bell peppers soaked in Spears’s special dressing. The rice is traditional Brazilian yellow rice, which was full of flavor.
When you are ready to welcome the exciting grills, all you have to do is flip the wooden sign on your table from red to green and you will see an army of waiters arriving to your table with swords stacked with meat. The restaurant offers almost ten kinds of cuts, from Brazilian beef, turkey, deer and chicken all coming in different marinations and cuts. On your table, you will also have different kinds of sauces that help enhance the taste of the meat. I, myself, didn’t need any sauce for the meat since it was juicy and melted in my mouth.
The best part of the meal comes at the end with the great variety of desserts. I chose the ice cream and fruit, which was a great experience in itself. All I had to do was dip my freshly chopped fruit into my ice cream.
One great thing about the restaurant is that if you fancy seafood, they can freely order from the Fish Market which is right next to Spears and they will serve it at your table. Need I say more?
