Ras Al-Khaimah sees 70% boost in KSA visitors

Visitors from Saudi Arabia represent a small but high value and fast-growing proportion of Ras Al-Khaimah’s tourism sector, say officials.
Saudi visitors to Ras Al-Khaimah have a significantly higher average hotel spend per guest than other source markets, they said. On average, Saudi visitors spent $ 110 per room in 2012, compared to $ 98 per UAE guest, $ 78 per German guest and $ 68 per Russian guest. Following the success of its participation at the recent Riyadh Travel Fair, Ras Al-Khaimah Tourism Department Authority has announced its ambition to welcome 6,000 guests from the Kingdom this year.
This will represent an increase of almost a 70 percent from the previous year.
The emirates also hopes to increase the number of hotel room nights bought by Saudi tourists by over 100 percent.
These details emerged as Mohamed Saeed Al-Dahari, UAE Ambassador to Saudi Arabia visited Ras Al-Khaimah Tourism Department Authority (TDA) at the fifth Riyadh Travel Fair.
It was the first time that Ras Al-Khaimah TDA led a delegation of tourism companies to this event.
The ambassador was greeted by Khalid Motik, director of Ras Al-Khaimah.
The director provided a presentation on the strategy and objectives of the authority as well as the various tourism programs and products offered by the Emirate as an international luxury tourist destination.
The Ambassador expressed his joy in witnessing Ras Al-Khaimah taking part at the exhibition along with other national authorities.
He hailed the achievements of the Emirate in attracting tourists to Ras Al-Khaimah through regional and international exhibitions and wished the organizers all the success and prosperity they deserve.
Ras Al-Khaimah is fast establishing itself as a global tourism brand for affordable luxury destination, and is now working on growing its reputation as a top regional holiday destination within the GCC, and specifically Saudi Arabia.
The delegation, led by Ras Al Khaimah TDA, included representatives from Waldorf Astoria Ras Al-Khaimah, Bin Majid Group, Banyan Tree Al-Wadi & Banyan Tree Ras Al-Khaimah Beach and RAK Airport.
