JEDDAH: The Islamic University in Madinah participated in the Barcelona International Book Fair 2012 concluded recently in Spain. The university’s pavilion at the fair was opened by Saudi Ambassedor to Spain Prince Mansour bin Khaled bin Abdullah Al Farhan in the presence of Saudi Cultural Attaché Ibrahim bin Yousif Al-Bluwi.
The Saudi pavilion was visited by a number of Spanish and international officials. The university exhibited selections of its issues including research materials, abstracts of the university’s research, university conferences reports as well as different prints and leaflets.
The Barcelona International Book Fair is patronized by the Spanish Publishers Union. It includes meetings of authors and publishers. This year the event ran from Oct. 3 to Oct. 5.
Known as Liber, this is the most important fair of the book sector in Spain and a leading one in the world in Spanish language. The fair is held alternately in Madrid and Barcelona, this year is turn of the Catalan capital.
In its 30th edition, the show contained a relevant space for the new digital formats that have been introduced in the book sector. Ebooks and technological support were exposed to visitors who were able to download and read books.
