MAKKAH: The Center for Makkah History is a research institute that studies the past of the holy city. It produces books and arranges forums and lectures on Makkah and its role as the fountainhead of Islam.
The center, established four years ago, also documents the efforts of the government to improve the services offered to Haj and Umrah pilgrims. The center has a vast archive and library on the history of Makkah and the Haj. It also documents photos and pictures on these topics.
The center also plans to collect all historical sources and references such as books, manuscripts, maps and articles, films, drawings and photos related to the history of Makkah, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
