In accordance with the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) established by the government aiming at developing Saudi youth and preparing them to take part in the country’s economic growth, the lnterContinental Alkhobar has announced that currently 30 percent of its total work force consists of Saudi nationals.
As part of the company’s longterm plan to increase the number of Saudi nationals in its employ, the lnterContinental Alkhobar is looking at growing the number to 40 percent within the next two years.
“We are very pleased with our Saudization program and the number of Saudi nationals we have working with us so far. This reflects our company’s commitment to the Kingdom in general and Alkhobar in particular and is part of our social responsibility to support the career development of Saudi youths,” said Josef Sorger, general manager, InterContinental Alkhobar, and director of operations for lnterContinental Hotels in the Eastern Province.
Some of the current jobs that Saudi nationals are responsible for at the hotel include human resources manager, government relations manager, duty manager, security manager, security staff, human resources officers, accountants, sales executives, laundry staff, buyers, sous-chef and demi-chef, electricians, lT technicians, receptionists, guest relations officer and e-marketing executive.
HRDF, established in 2000 by the government, helps private companies hire and train Saudi nationals in order to prepare them to assume their responsibility and aid in the country’s future growth and development.
