RIYADH: The Ministry of Health (MoH) is to launch shortly its eHealth research, Entity-Relation Database (ERDB), which comes as part of its strategic health plan to serve the patients in the Kingdom.
An official from the ministry said that it is expected to adopt an integrated and comprehensive health care approach, with attention to the research and education.
The ERDB will be based on the promotion of research in health and academic training. It is aimed at improving the management of health care in the Kingdom with the help of accurate and relevant data base.
The project aims to document, classify, preserve and make available research efforts carried out in the ministry, as part of a cooperative project between the General Directorate of Research, Studies and researchers under an umbrella of a portal.
It will provide data and evidence indicative of evidential and information for decision makers to help them support the relevant assigned tasks accomplished them.
The project also aims to facilitate and promote the translation of knowledge into policy and practice to provide an effective manner of Health Care Services through easy and developer programs.
“It will be a great boost for health research among health care professionals in the Kingdom,” he said, adding that it will motivate health researchers, and give them confidence in the growth and development of services provided to them to facilitate research activities.
Under its eHealth program, the Ministry of Health has a vision to improve the equability, standards, availability and quality of care in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The MoH has developed a business strategy and 5-year plan to realize this vision, and has positioned eHealth as a primary transformation agent and enabler.
To enable its vision, the MoH in cooperation with national and international advisers and IBM, has developed an eHealth Strategy and a 5-year road map.
The eHealth strategy supports the primary MoH business goals include care for patients, connecting providers at all levels of care, measure the performance of health care delivery and transform health care to a consistent world-class standard.
