A new hair color gives you a sense of freshness and renewal. However, the chemicals in the color may be harmful to the hair in the long run.
You can instead try our recipes below for natural hair pigments:
Blonde
Ingredients:
½ cup fresh lemon juice
2 cups of strong chamomile tea
½ cup of strong tea calendula
Method:
• Mix all ingredients in a spray bottle or another small bottle.
• Shake the bottle well before each use, spray it on the hair and mix well. This mix works best when applied directly on the hair before sun exposure.
• Leave it on for one to two hours before washing it. It can be used several times a week, until you reach the desired color.
Red
Ingredients:
2 cups of water
2 tbsp hibiscus petals (or more for a dark red colors)
½ cup of calendula flowers or fresh marigold petals (optional)
Method:
• Boil the water and leave it on low heat with marigold and hibiscus petals, for at least half an hour.
• Strain flower petals and preserve the colored liquid in the refrigerator.
• Use it in the final rinse of the hair at the end of each bath, dry the hair in the sun if you can. Repeat this routine every day until you get the desired color.
Brown
Ingredients:
¼ cup nettle leaves
¼ cup rosemary leaves
¼ cup sage leaves
2 cups of water
Method:
• Add water and herbs in a small bowl, and leave it on low heat for at least 30 minutes, or until the color of the water is very dark. Take it off from heat and when it cools, strain herbs from the liquid. Make sure to remove all the small pieces, then mix it and save it in the refrigerator.
• Spray the mix on the hair and brush it well to ensure that the mix is evenly distributed. Leave it for about an hour before showering every day, then wash it as usual, you can also use in the last rinse, or apply Clausaon on the hair after every bath.
• Repeat the process until you get the desired color. This dye has a cumulative effect and you will probably not notice a big difference in the first few days. The herbs in this mix are also useful in getting rid of dandruff and increasing hair growth.
If your hair is dyed a brown color and you want to preserve it for a longer time, or you have naturally brown hair and you want to lighten it a little bit without the use of chemicals, then here’s a natural way to get the best results:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup yogurt
Tablespoon of honey
Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
Method:
• Mix the above ingredients to form a paste and apply the mixture on wet hair and leave for 15 minutes, then rinse.
Cocoa helps to enhance the color brown, honey moisturizes the hair, while vinegar and yogurt help with scalp pores.
Dyeing with henna:
Henna is considered one of the best natural ways to dye hair. Henna does not have any negative effect on the hair texture, instead it has many advantages. It contributes to the treatment of dandruff and deals with sore scalp and hair loss. In addition, henna containing disinfectants work to purify the scalp of microbes and parasites.
Blond:
Ingredients:
10 tbsp henna
Juice of two lemons
3 tablespoon turmeric
Hot water
Tablespoon apple cider vinegar or regular vinegar
Method: Mix all ingredients except the lemon juice, and leave the mixture for three hours until fermented, then add the lemon juice to the mix. Apply the mixture on the hair and leave for four hours, then wash the hair thoroughly.
Golden blonde
Ingredients:
2 cups henna
3 tablespoon turmeric
1 cup water
Method: Mix the ingredients to become a dough and leave it to ferment for three hours. Apply the mixture on the hair for four hours and then wash the hair thoroughly.
Dark brown
Ingredients:
10 tbsp henna
Lemon juice
3 tablespoon vinegar
3 tablespoon eggplant peel
Warm water.
Method:
Mix all the ingredients except lemon. Leave the mixture to ferment for three hours, then add lemon to the mixture. apply the mixture on the hair for four hours and then wash it.
Reddish brown
Ingredients:
10 tablespoon henna
Lemon juice
3 tablespoon vinegar
2 tablespoon of Arabic coffee
Warm water.
Method:
Mix all the ingredients except the lemon juice, and leave it to ferment for three hours. Add the lemon juice and apply on hair for three hours. Wash the hair after it.
Chocolate brown
Ingredients:
10 tbsp henna
Lemon juice
3 tablespoon vinegar
4 tablespoon cocoa powder
Warm water
Method
Mix all the ingredients except lemon juice, and leave it for three hours. Add lemon juice and apply the mixture to hair. Wash it well.
