JEDDAH: The Labor Ministry has urged parents and families to participate in its campaign to Saudize jobs, Al-Madinah Arabic daily reported quoting ministry officials.
In a brochure prepared exclusively for parents, the ministry urged them to utilize their holidays for the benefits of young children.
Parents have been advised to train the youth for a profession, assist them in starting a home business, instill respect toward work in the minds of children and encourage them to practice various professions.
The ministry launched the campaign entitled “Your way to nationalize jobs,” as part of its ongoing efforts to create more job opportunities for Saudis in the private sector.
Labor Minister Adel Fakeih commended national companies for their contributions to employ Saudis and solve the country’s unemployment problem.
“With the help of God and the resolve of their top managers, these companies were able to employ large numbers of Saudi youths after providing them with the necessary training,” the minister said.
Fakeih stressed that his ministry has been promoting successful models of Saudization through campaigns in order for companies to apply them to Saudize jobs and fulfill their Nitaqat conditions.
The ministry emphasized the need for instilling good work ethics in the minds of young Saudi men and women to develop a positive attitude toward work and enable them to lead a happy and prosperous life.
The ministry said the new campaign was aimed at raising the rate of Saudization in jobs and boosting the national economy.
The ministry has put forward a number of short and long-term solutions to create new employment opportunities.
The short-term solutions included the employment of nationals in place of expatriates, intensifying inspections of the job market, expanding the Nitaqat program, deporting violators, creating a competitive atmosphere, developing the current remittance system and ensuring wage protection.
The ministry has been trying to enhance the employment capabilities of young Saudi men and women by providing them with intensive training, developing basic skills, creating good relations with the private sector, launching recruitment companies, and creating more jobs for women.
The ministry has adopted a number of long-term solutions such as coordinating among the various ministries to reduce unemployment, stimulating economic growth, preparing the youth for higher levels of scientific and technological qualifications, generating new job opportunities, restructuring education to suit labor market requirements and making continuous assessments of educational and training programs and their results.
The ministry’s Nitaqat program that classifies companies into four categories — premium, green, yellow and red — considers their efforts to employ Saudis have been successful in creating more jobs for Saudi nationals.
In less than a year 250,000 Saudis have gotten jobs as a result of the program. Before introducing the system in Shawwal 1432H (Aug. 2011), it took five years to create such jobs. Nitaqat also helped 54,000 women get jobs within seven months.
