FrieslandCampina Middle East launched Friso, a child nutrition brand, during a two-day Friso scientific meeting — Let’s start together — in Riyadh. A similar event followed in Jeddah.
The underlying themes of the meeting were "Protein and digestion concept" and “From fetal to child nutrition." An extensive Q&A session followed the meeting. The event was attended by medical professionals, as well as pediatricians and child nutritionists in Saudi Arabia.
Jan Taminiau and Anne Schaafsma, both professors, along with the other members of Friso’s management team were present at the meeting. During the meeting, the science behind the growth journey of a child was discussed by the experts as its one of the most unique experiences for both mother and child. The discussion highlighted Friso’s commitment toward making this journey richer by providing premium nutrition for a child’s growth and development.
Taminiau, consultant department of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition in Emma Children’s Hospital in Amsterdam, Netherlands, shared his expertise on child nutrition and a selection of studies on the same.
Schaafsma, senior scientist nutrition, FrieslandCampina, expressed his views related on stages of protein digestion and how high quality proteins are directly connected to easily digest the milk in a child’s growth phase.
Riyadh meeting was chaired by Abdullah Al-Omair, president, Saudi Pediatric Association, associate professor and consultant pediatrician in the department of Pediatric College of Medicine, King Saud University, and Jeddah meeting by Dr. Abdulaziz Al Twaim, consultant and section head of pediatric endocrinology at King Abdul Aziz Medical City National Guard Hospital and VP of Saudi Pediatric Association. Both chairmen assured that breast feeding is the best for babies.
Essam Elkafrawy, business manager-IFT, FrieslandCampina Middle East, said: “FrieslandCampina has brought Friso to Saudi Arabia to make sure a child gets all the necessary nutrients and thereby enjoying every step of his growing up days.”
