DAMMAM: Camel owners in the Kingdom are planning to establish a first-of-its-kind camel club in the world.
The idea is the brainchild of Homoud Al-Qahtani, who says there are more than 900,000 camels in the Kingdom.
“Camel rearing and racing are big hobbies in the Kingdom,” he said. “Through the formation of such a club we want to bring all camel lovers together and organize joint activities.”
Al-Qahtani said the group would help raise awareness about camels, their peculiarities, dietary habits, and all about their survival tactics in the harsh deserts of Arabia. “We want to help those who love camels and want to know about the different species and their different colors,” he said.
Munahi Al-Dajani, who owns many camels, described it as a good idea. “We have no such club, and I am all for it,” he said. “This will bring all camel owners at one place and help them share their information about this particular animal.”
