League leader Al Zamil Metal fired a warning on the chasing pack when it won back-to-back Team of the Week honors and opened a wide gap at top of the team standings after the seventh session in the FTBJ-ICBL 30th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes in Mossadia Plaza here.
Merlen Pamintuan doubled the joy at Al Zamil when she clinched the ladies Bowler of the Week award at a series of 631 on lines of 181, 203 and 217.
Zamil never won a single game but was consistent enough to post the top tally of 43 points, well in front of Akiera Sato Bowlers on 39. The team award was actually the third overall for the Metal Specialists, the same number held by league No. 2 Cristal Global which had a modest showing this session on 26 points in a tie with D’ Barkads.
Jeddah Lanes and Saudi Diyar Consultants tied on 38 points followed by Al Watan 35, Kulisap ni Moe 32 and Hidada Ltd. 31.
Yanbu Sniper was on 17 with Avengers, Sky Freight-TFC and Pin Slashers the last three teams to check in on 15, 14 and 10 in that order.
To Andy Yumena of Kulisap went the men’s Bowler of the Week plum after he fired the high series of 658 on games of 199, 193 and 242.
With Pamintuan turning out the top scorer the Metal Specialists kept the faith in their single set of five players. The men’s trio of Victor Pagayon, Randy Mata and Bonnie Garcia all did well to shoot 624, 611 and 561, while Ester Jalata likewise did not fail her team with 561 in support of Merlen.
Akiera Sato, after winning the first game and coming in third in the next, overcame a poor display in the final game by registering the top overall output for another first-place points of 13.
At the helm of Sato were Ed Labuac, Obie Ycasas and Marcelo Manalo who carded 635, 617 and 602, while the ladies duo of Edna Bruzette and Fuly Primo returned 617 and 535.
The host bowlers had Igna Salgado at the forefront on 634 followed by Pao Allego, Jeanette Cerbito 561 and Marie Gumpal 541. Gerry Mandanas tossed in valuable 196-235 while Nick Gozun added 216.
Nap Patayan and Epoy Santos rolled full games of 644 and 600 at Saudi Diyar that went with the 616 by Susan Patayan and 566 by Fatima Jintarat. Raul delos Reyes had 166-201 and Edwin Ronquillo 192.
Watan Décor, the only team to break the Zamil-Cristal domination of the weekly race for honors, used a five-man rotation led by Jeff San Pedro who carded 647.
Charie Guzman and Lourdes Punzalan came through with 580 and 579, while Efren San Pedro contributed 573 and Jess Pineda made 562.
Amro Al Amro led Hidada on 639 followed by Grace Siasoco 616, Nanding Siasoco 594, Romy Bunagan 551 and Pinky Acato 550.
