Shoura chief lauds king’s political acumen

Shoura Council President Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sheikh said that the political acumen and the extraordinary personality have enabled Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to take the leading role in unifying the Islamic nation. Speaking to Al-Madinah Arabic daily, he lauded the commendable role being played by the king in realizing unity and solidarity of the Muslims worldwide so as to confront the potential challenges facing them.
“King Abdullah’s call for the emergency Islamic solidarity summit in Makkah emanates from his realization of the gravity of dangers threatening the Islamic nation in terms of disunity and sedition. Islamic solidarity is a major highlight of the Kingdom’s policy ever since its foundation,” he said.
According to the Shoura chief, such historic initiatives are not alien to the leaders of the Kingdom. History shows that the Kingdom, ever since the period of its founder King Abdul Aziz, and during the periods of his sons — King Saud, King Faisal, King Khaled, and King Fahd and now during the reign of King Abdullah — spared no efforts to serve Islam and Muslims and to stand by their just causes and supporting them. “The venue and timing that King Abdullah has chosen to convene the summit have attained greater significance while taking into account of the paramount importance given by him to the unity and solidarity of the Islamic nation.
This is one among the major initiatives taken by the king to solve the problems and challenges facing the Muslims worldwide,” he noted while urging the Islamic leaders to shoulder their great responsibility in fostering Islamic unity and solidarity so as to confront challenges effectively.
A number of Shoura Council members also lauded King Abdullah for hosting the summit. The members, including Saleh Al-Zahrani, Majdi Haririr and Muhammad Al-Quwaihes, said that the summit reflects the king’s keenness in applying the lofty Islamic ideals to solve the problems facing the Islamic nation.
