JEDDAH: Five Saudis working in a well-known grocery store in north Jeddah were detained on charges of stealing SR1.5 million, police spokesman Col. Misfir Al-Juaid announced recently. The spokesman said the owner of the business took the case to police after discovering that the sum of money, which was under the responsibility of the five Saudi employees, was missing and the suspects could not come up with convincing reasons for why the cash was gone. Al-Juaid said the five suspects were detained for investigations prior to being taken to court. He added that initial investigations showed contradictions in their stories, which indicated they might be behind the theft.
