MAKKAH: A fire broke out on the 15th floor of the 16-story Al-Juwar building near the Grand Mosque and steps away from the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques Affairs headquarters, Civil Defense spokesman Lt. Col. Ali Al-Muntashiri announced on Thursday.

The fire, which was started in a maintenance room late on Wednesday, was extinguished by the Civil Defense.

“We were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to the other rooms and floors,” said Muntashiri.

Two firefighters suffered light smoke-inhalation injuries.
