SR 3 bn allocated for Tabuk projects

Some SR 3 billion has been allocated in the current financial year of 1434-35 for the implementation and completion of a series of infrastructure and utility services projects in Tabuk region.
The projects include construction of new highways and major and secondary roads at a cost of SR 789 million. A key road project completed was the fourth stage of the Tabuk-to-Madinah highway. The 30 km part of the highway in the Tabuk region cost SR 300 million, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Other road projects included the completion of the 25-km Taima-Oula Road and Tabuk-Dhaba road at a cost of SR 91 million and SR 90 million respectively.
Another SR 785 million was allocated for the implementation of new water, sewage and desalination projects. These included the cost of studies, construction and supervision of water and sewage projects at a cost of SR 325 million, flood protection walls around water treatment plants in Tabuk provinces at SR 60 million and the completion of phase 6 of Tabuk's comprehensive water project at a cost of SR 150 million.
Additionally, SR 210 million was allocated for water desalination projects, notably phase 4 of the construction of a water desalination project in Wajh Province at a cost of SR 160 million.
Apart from the new water and sewage projects, there are a series of water and sewage projects currently under construction in Tabuk at a cost of SR 5.26 billion, thus bringing the total cost of these projects to more than SR 6 billion.
The Ministry of Water and Electricity recently signed 35 operation and maintenance contracts for ongoing water and sewage projects in the approved budget for the Hijri year 1433-34 at a total cost of SR 831.6 million.
