Private schools will have their licenses revoked by the Ministry of Education if they accept unapproved funding of any kind from foreign sources, reported Al-Eqtisadiah, quoting sources.
All funding has to be approved by the ministry, said the sources.
There are about 3,000 private schools in the Kingdom. The supervisory agencies have noticed that some schools committed administrative and financial violations.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Education in Riyadh warned private and international schools that they can only raise school fees with the approval of the directorate.
The ministry has ordered that schools can only raise fees if they meet certain set standards, which include a high pass rate. A school should also score highly in the tests of the National Center for Measurement and Assessment.
Salih At-Turaif, director of private and foreign education at the Riyadh Directorate of Education, said the Minister of Education introduced these controls. This was based on a decision by the Council of Ministers.
