Pakistan International School Jeddah (English Section) (PISJ-ES) organized the Annual Physics Projects Presentation 2012-2013, during which students creatively displayed, demonstrated, and explained their projects followed by a question and answer session in Open House on Dec. 6.
The PISJ-ES principal and Pakistan senator, Sehar Kamran, in her message emphasized on the importance of science and technology in daily life, and lauded the efforts of students and teachers. She said the students got an opportunity to exhibit their talents and skills creatively. “The event aims to acknowledge the hard work and efforts of the students who have worked tirelessly on their projects. The achievements of the students are thereby signified, and they stand as an example for other students.” said Kamran.
The PISJ-ES students started working diligently on their projects during the summer vacations. They had to explore a scientific application, gather some information, and get the material to sculpt it making it work on some scientific principles. The students who met the best expectations had their projects included in the Annual Physics Projects Presentation 2012-2013. Students were judged for victory of idea, verbal command dealing with questions and queries related to their projects, and the written presentation on display boards.
The winners were divided in two categories. In the first category, students bagged first, second and third positions for successfully having the best overall projects with interactive performance. In the second category, students were awarded separately for having the best model presentation.
Overall, there were 18 projects, including a hydroelectric generator, AC generator (water turbine), electroscope, hovercraft, digital counter, and ripple tank.
The event also included the students of grade 7, who took a keen interest and participated enthusiastically in the mini-quiz competition, bagging prizes for correct answers. The event, which was also a source of revision for senior students, concluded successfully.
