JEDDAH: Multiple individuals accused in the crane crash accident at the Grand Mosque, which resulted in 107 deaths and 238 injuries among pilgrims, will face several charges, notably the loss of lives, neglect and noncompliance with established safety measures.
Among the accused are engineers and project managers of the company responsible for implementation of the project.
Sources noted that the public prosecutor plans to demand an increase in the defendant's punishments following the investigation and the issuance of an indictment.
Initial investigations revealed the company involved implementing the project did not comply with the required safety measures. The investigations revealed several additional causes of the crane accident and additional names have been added in the case file.
Many experienced engineers, specializing in the construction business, were hired to learn more information about crane use and the required safety measures during operation.
