RIYADH: The Passport Department has released nearly 2,000 Yemeni residents in violation of the labor and residency regulations, who were held in deportation centers prior to the launch of the corrective campaign directed by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman.
The two-month corrective period was extended until the end of Shawwal in response to requests by the Yemeni government to correct the status of as many Yemenis as possible due to unstable conditions in their home country.
The release of the Yemeni nationals comes in response to directives issued by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif.
Priority in correcting status will be given to Yemeni nationals in these deportation centers, with the exception of those detained on criminal charges.
