Jeddawis will now be able to rent bicycles in three areas of the city to keep fit. They will be available at the Rawdah Walkway, north of Prince Mohammed Road, and south of Al-Anani Mosque in Al-Hamra on the Corniche.
The Jeddah municipality, Saudi Investment Bank and the Jeddah Cycling Club launched the project on Wednesday.
Municipality spokesman Mohammed Al-Buqami said Jeddah Mayor Hani Abu Ras signed the agreement with Musaed Al-Munifi, president of the bank. “The initiative is to motivate the residents to cycle at designated public places,” he said.
A special feature of the cycling stations is that they are solar powered and operated electronically.
