Eighty films and 59 scenarios will be on display at the Second Saudi Film Festival that opens in Dammam on Feb. 20, said Ahmed Al-Mulla, director general of the event. The organizing committee has already selected the films.
“We want this festival to become a driving force for the Kingdom’s film industry and cultural movement,” said Al-Mulla, adding that it would be considered a national initiative to develop the film industry.
Al-Mulla said the festival would create more job opportunities for Saudi men and women who are skilled in film production.
“A workshop on producing scenarios, soundtracks and documentary films will be conducted from Feb. 20 to 24,” h said. He said the festival would bring together experts in various fields having innovative ideas in marketing, management, media, editing, translation, information technology and public relations.
The Saudi Cultural and Arts Society is the festival’s organizer.
