Perturbed and deeply aggrieved, the staff and students of the Pakistan International School, English Section, (PISES) Riyadh severely condemned the massacre on Tuesday of 148 innocent students of the Army Public School and College in Peshawar by terrorists.
The school held a special assembly in all wings of PISES to condemn the merciless and brutal killing of students and teachers including the school principal. During the assembly, a vote of condolence was moved to the members of the bereaved family who lost their loved ones in the mindless massacre.
Acting Principal Muhammad Tanveer strongly condemned the senseless and inhuman attack on innocent students and educators in Peshawar. “This is a crime against humanity. The massacre of innocent children reflects only the cruelty, brutality and cowardice of the terrorists,” he said.
He observed that there was a deep sense of sadness in all present owing to the unfolding of the tragic events in Peshawar.
“Everyone, irrespective of nationality, religion, sect or creed, feels the pain of this tragic incident. May Allah bless our homeland and our people with peace, safety and security,” he concluded.
In the Boys Wing of PISES, Muhammad Tahir Sheikh, head of the English Department, hosted the session and in his introductory remark, told students about the tragedy where about 148 students including teachers and the principal of the school were killed by terrorists.
Hafiz Muhammad Jaffer began the proceedings of the morning assembly by reciting the verses from the Holy Qur’an. Muhammad Tahir Sheikh tried to fathom the gravity of the sorrowful event by a translation of the holy verses: “Those who embrace death on their way to attain knowledge are not dead but alive: They get their food from their Lord,” he said.
Among the teachers, Shafique Hussain and Abdul Wahid shared their grief with the gathering.
Students including Muhammad Raza Ali, Hammad Ismail, Abdul Munim and Rohan Manzoor denounced the atrocity committed by the terrorists and said that these cowardly attacks would not shake their confidence and unity.
On a proposal made by Muhammad Tahir Sheikh, the students moved a resolution condemning the merciless attack on humanity. At the end, there was a collective prayer (dua) recited for the martyrs of this incident.
