The Ministry of Health has fined 11 Saudi nurses at the King Faisal Hospital in Taif a total of SR205,000 following investigations by special committees which revealed their negligence in carrying out their duties with patients.
The nurses were each fined varying amounts, ranging from SR10,000 to SR50,000, said the spokesman of the Taif Health Affairs Department, Siraj Al-Humaidan.
In a press statement on Thursday, he said that further investigations and disciplinary procedures will be carried out with the nurses in accordance with regulations that aim to protect and serve patients as comprehensively as possible.
Al-Humaidan said lack of professionalism and negligence by health practitioners will not be tolerated.
