JEDDAH: Eight workers were injured in a fire that hit Saudi Aramco’s oil terminal facility in Ras Tanura early Tuesday, the company said.
In a statement posted on its website, Saudi Aramco said the fire struck at 9 a.m., forcing the evacuation of the facility.
Emergency fire services, however, contained the fire before it could do any major damage.
The statement said the injured included two Aramco employees and six contractors, all of whom were given medical treatment.
Aramco said the “minor fire incident” did not affect the facility’s oil and gas operations. The Ras Tanura terminal has a crude oil refining capacity of 550,000 barrels per day.
“The cause of the fire is not yet known. The Company will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause,” Aramco said, adding that its oil and gas operations were not affected.
