JEDDAH: The Ministry of Labor and Social Development flagged off its program for women’s entry into the business sector by launching a telecommunication forum in the Remal Complex in Riyadh last week.
The move is part of its plans to push Saudization in the private sector and meet the goals of Vision 2030.
“This (telecom) sector targets women of all qualifications — whether she has a university degree or not. A shop needs a cashier, programmer, maintenance officer ... I was surprised to see the large number of women applicants for this,” Umm Salman, a supervisor at the forum, told local media.
She said that the government is providing excellent facilities for this (telecom) project and financial help to the tune of SR200,000 is being offered.
“This is in addition to SR3,000 for two years for human resources, besides training courses free of cost in the same forum for three months. Participants are being provided with transportation at nominal rates.”
The forum venue has a kindergarten for the employees with cameras and screens for mothers to see their children and 24-hour security by women guards. The place is a golden opportunity for business and good investment for widows and divorcees.
“It’s true that working from home is good, especially in making and selling food. However, availability of women workforce in the telecom sector will be a boon for the economy,” Umm Salman added.
