JEDDAH: Libya's government requested US air strikes against Daesh in Sirte, and the first strikes were carried out on Monday, Prime Minster Fayez Seraj said.
The Pentagon also announced in a statement that Daesh targets had been hit in Libya.
“the United States military conducted precision air strikes against [Daesh] targets in Sirte, Libya, to support GNA-affiliated forces seeking to defeat [Daesh] in its primary stronghold in Libya," Pentagon said.
PM Seraj said, "The first air strikes were carried out at specific locations in Sirte today causing severe losses to enemy ranks," he said in a statement broadcast on state TV.”
