JAZAN: In a rare case that happens only every 55 million births, a woman here has given birth to five children, with one dying shortly after delivery.
Ali Al-Mudier, medical director at King Fahad Central Hospital in Jazan, said the fifth child was deformed. The other children and their mother were in good health, he was quoted as saying by a local publication on Monday.
The twins were delivered after seven months of pregnancy by a large medical team including anesthetists, gynecologists, consultants and nurses. Al-Mudier said the hospital delivered 109 twins in 2015, and this year 95 sets of twins and three sets of triplets.
He thanked the medical team under the leadership of Tareq Al-Hashimi and Ahmad Al-Rous for their efforts and hard work. The procedure was done under the direct supervision of the hospital director Abdullah Al-Najmi. The father of the children and Director General of Jazan Health Mohammad Al-Aali thanked the staff for their care.
