JEDDAH: At least 9 Chinese nationals have reverted to Islam after having been impressed by the kind behavior of a mosque imam and Muslims.
Dr. Walid Ajaji, the imam of a local mosque, said that they found the Chinese workers a week ago sleeping on some carton boxes near the mosque.
The imam with the help of other Muslims provided them proper shelter in the vicinity of the mosque garden and also arranged food and water for them.
Being non-Muslims, the Chinese labors were initially afraid; they thought the Muslims might treat them badly. But it came as huge surprise to them when they were treated so humanely.
The imam also tried to help them contact their embassy for possible arrangements for them to go back home safely.
Dr. Ajaji said the workers had left their company after the owners didn’t pay their salaries for nine months and treated them badly.
Obviously, the imam said, this gave them a very bad impression about the Kingdom and the people here. All such misperception changed when the imam and the other people extended all genuine help to these hapless laborers.
Dr. Ajaji said they also made them understand the real meaning of Islam and the character of a true Muslim; by seeing generosity of Muslims they eventually accepted Islam. The group said that after the performance of their first Friday prayers they will leave for their country with their new identity as Muslims.
“We will leave to our country soon, but will take with us our new religion and beautiful memories of these noble people who brought us into the light with good treatment, kind behavior and gentle attitude to this great religion,” one of the Chinese nationals said.
