The Human Resources Development Fund (HADAF) has helped over 192,631 citizens find employment through their support programs and the Taqat employment channels in 2014.
HADAF Deputy Executive General Manager Abdul Karim Al-Najaidi revealed these statistics during a presentation on local employment at the Jazan Economic Forum titled “Saudi youth and Saudization,” in which he also pointed out that the labor force for the second half of 2014 in the province reached 339,568 people, accounting for 6 percent of the total Saudi labor force.
It is estimated that the overall work force in the country amounts to 5,577, 489 adults, while the total employees in Jazan account for 308, 251 people.
Continuing with the data crunch, Al-Najaidi disclosed that the number of Jazan’s unemployed citizens is currently up to 31,317 people, of which 16,496 are men and 14,821 are women, with unemployment rate at 9.2 percentage compared to the national average, 11.7 percent, during the same period.
As of now, the official stated, there are multiple programs and support mechanisms provided by the fund, including employment training programs for unqualified youths, the national system for joint training and the specialized tourism training, to help Jazan residents find suitable jobs. HADAF also offers training for small business owners, development of human resources personnel, rehabilitation of health diploma holders, training programs associated with the employment of female graduates, and the Cambridge Certificate Program for Information Technology, among other workshops.
According to Al-Najaidi, the support programs for job seekers resulted in the employment of 1,123 Saudis in the region in 2014, with the Taqat channels of employment contributing to help over 1,764 citizens find work last year.
HADAF’s official also claimed that the organization also helped raise the monthly minimum wage to SR4,000.
