Labor offices in Dammam and Alkhobar joined forces with the Dammam police and municipality in shutting down 27 women’s stores that were found to be employing men in contravention of a new law stipulating that shops selling women’s products employ only female workers.
Other violations were found during inspection campaigns, including two employees who were working without legal documentation.
Mohammed Al-Faleh, labor office manager in the Eastern Province, stressed on the importance of monitoring the labor market and ensuring that workers only undertake work they are legally permitted to do.
“Workers should only work with employers under whom they are sponsored,” said Al-Faleh.
“Labor offices in the Eastern Province will continue to carry out inspection campaigns, along with the Ministry of Interior and other authorities.”
