Five Indonesians were apprehended for selling aphrodisiacs and drugs to terminate pregnancies by inducing abortions in three groceries known as “Jawa” stores in the holy city of Makkah, Sabq newswire reported.
A committee formed from different departments of the Makkah Governorate also found narcotics cleverly concealed in water cartons and food packs, making it difficult for inspectors to detect them, the paper said.
Upon checking the mobile phones of the workers running the store, the inspectors discovered text messages from women seeking drugs to prevent pregnancy, for abortion and sex stimulating potions, the paper said.
The seized items contained 7,841 aphrodisiacs, 323 contraceptives and pregnancy terminating pills, 8,012 banned capsules for slimming and fattening purposes in addition to amulets and talismans which are contrary to the Shariah, the paper said.
The three stores were closed and the five Indonesians referred to concerned bodies for further investigations, according to the paper.
