Government authorities have suspended three preachers from delivering Friday sermons and leading prayers permanently at mosques or guidance circles because of their affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood.
The three men were found to be in direct communication with other members of the organization in several Arab countries.
One source said these preachers are popular in the neighborhoods where they speak.
The men were also found to have exceeded the time allotted for sermons and had spread their convictions on social networking sites.
“Mosques should not be a political platform for preachers to influence members of the public or advance their own agendas,” the source said. “Around 76 preachers, teachers and lecturers are being monitored for what they say and teach after being found guilty of exploiting their professions to influence public opinion.”
