Saudi Arabia has donated SR750 million ($200 million) to King Abdullah Medical City in Sanaa.
Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi laid the foundation for the multi-specialty hospital on Thursday.
“The project will cost $230 million and the Saudi government has given $200 million to finance it,” an official statement said.
President Hadi also laid the stone for a new $62 million road project in Sanaa financed by the Saudi Fund for Development, which has contributed $50 million to the project.
The president thanked Saudi Arabia for its generous support.
Meanwhile, SFD signed three deals worth $114.2 million to finance development projects in Yemen. Yousuf Al-Bassam, vice president and managing director of SFD signed the agreements with Mohammed Al-Saadi, Yemen’s minister of planning and international cooperation.
The agreements were aimed at fighting poverty in Yemen, reduce unemployment and improve health condition of people in the country.
