Abdulateef Al-Mulhim has really come up with a solution not only to the issue of reckless driving but also to almost all the social problems facing the Saudi society as well as Muslims across the world. If we start following the teachings of Islam, most of our problems will be resolved.
Be it driving, interpersonal relations, behavior within a group or individual actions, Islam has set strong and clear-cut guidelines that if followed properly can revolutionize our lives. The problem is that we always expect others to take the first step in this regard. Such an attitude creates problems. If every individual starts taking the first step, the situation will change in no time. I strongly believe that a Muslim society does not need any external laws to regulate the actions of individuals. I am not being utopian. This has been proven around 1,400 years ago in Madinah during the lifetime of our Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). I do agree that we cannot replicate those days anymore but if we try moving in that direction the outcome will help check many issues currently facing the Ummah. Al-Mulhim really knows how to deal with issues. His writings vividly reflect that. During the course he suggests a solution in such a simple manner that really forces readers to at least reflect on the issue. This is the quality of a good writer. He never indulges in a blame game. We all respect Al-Mulhim. I hope all Muslims start thinking in the same way as Al-Mulhim does. — Rafiq Ahmed, Riyadh
