Some private schools will be turned into boarding schools so they can lodge students, on condition that the schools are subjected to specified regulations, ethics and public health issues. The Ministry of Education approved the proposal.
“Each boarding school must be provided with adequate furniture and other means of education. It must respect the religious and ethical values of the country and its location should be suitable to fulfill the mission of the school,” said a source. The buildings should be in good condition and meet public health requirements.
Schools are not allowed to accept financial subsidies or any kind of assistance from an international or foreign party without prior approval from the authorities.
“Opening a private school, transferring its ownership, or changing its location needs prior permission and licensing from the relevant bodies, in line with procedures and terms of the related codes,” the source said.
The Ministry of Education issued a decision about the enforcement of the committee that is reviewing school fees at private schools.
The committee receives the applications from schools to adapt their fees, as well as the grievances of the parents of students on his issue. All fees should remain the same until after the committee issues a decision on the matter.
A preparatory committee in each section of the ministry will be formed to receive the applications from all education departments throughout the Kingdom for more reviewing and checking.
The grace period for receiving applications of this academic year, 2012-2013, will end on April 12.
As for defining school fees for private schools that obtained licenses for the academic year 2013-2014, applications should be submitted to the committee within 15 days of the decision being issued by the main committee.
