The program was held on Wednesday at a local restaurant in Jeddah.
Safiya Ishaq, president of the women’s wing of Nazriah, said that they wanted to give an idea to the young generation about the evolution of the two-nation theory that culminated in the partition of the sub-continent and the creation of Pakistan. "Schools are the best place to achieve this goal," she said. “The presence of the teachers, principals and high authorities of different schools in this program is a guarantee that Iqbal's message will reach the next generation and that they will take care of the country and its development sincerely,” she said.
She added they organized this program not only to commemorate Iqbal’s death anniversary but to promise that they will continue to spread his message and strengthen the unity of the nation.
Chief guest Refaat Masood Puri praised the efforts of Nazriah and said it is very important to keep the young generation involved in development work and let them understand the message of Iqbal, his philosophy and the two-nation theory.
Tabassum Alvi, writer and president of Marwa women’s organization, presented the philosophy of Iqbal and his poetry. She said Iqbal always stressed the importance of loving your Creator, and that will in turn take the believers to new heights of life.
Aisha Amir Mohammed Khan, chief coordinator of Nazriah Pakistan, said that it was an honor for the organization to be able to bring all the top and important authorities on one platform.
The program started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Hala School students presented Iqbal’s famous poem, “Lub Pay Ati Hai Tamana Mayree.”
School principals Waqar Alnisa, Robina Akbar, Mahjabeen Mubashar, Sadiya Kaleem, Rukhsana Masud Javaid, Iqbal Naseem and other dignitaries presented Iqbal’s poetry, philosophy, the two-nation theory, the Pakistan movement and its importance. They also threw light on Iqbal’s life.
Nazriah presented the Quaid-e-Azam award and appreciation shield to notable Pakistani community members, school principals and journalists for their hard work and participation in the community and the country’s progress.
The awards were presented to Founder of Pakistan Women Welfare Forum Shabnum Zahid, chief guests Refaat Masood Puri, Rukhsana Masud Javaid, principal of Al-Hukma International School Sadiya Kaleem, Amir Mohammed Khan of Nawa-e-Waqt and Shahid Naeem of GEO TV.
