Addressing a farewell party organized by Gulf Madhyamam daily here recently, Mubarak said he was lucky to handle Haj events free of major incidents. “During the Haj pilgrimage, when nearly 3 million faithful assemble in the holy sites, the risks are very high,” Mubarak said.
He thanked the media for giving him good support and constructive criticism on how to improve services. He described the work of Haj consul as challenging and thanked the ambassador and consul general for their guidance to help him carry out his mission efficiently.
Mubarak will leave the Kingdom shortly to take charge as head of the Indian mission in Ramallah, Palestine.
Hamza Abbas, editor in chief of Gulf Madhyamam, who presided over the function, commended Mubarak's contributions to help Indian pilgrims perform Haj safely and comfortably. 
He congratulated Mubarak for getting the opportunity to travel from the Haram Mosque in Makkah to Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the third holiest place of worship for Muslims.
Abbas spoke about Gulf Madhyamam’s efforts in informing the Indian diaspora in the Gulf about developments back home, being the largest circulated Indian newspaper in the Middle East. Abbas presented a memento to Mubarak.
KIG Saudi president Jamal Alwaye, Madhyamam Vicharavedi president Gopinath Nedungadi, Jeddah-Indian Keralite Forum president V.K. Rauf, and journalist Muhammad Irfan delivered felicitation speeches commending Mubarak’s services to the community and the guests of God. Earlier, Gulf Madhyamam Deputy Editor Kassim Irikkur welcomed the guests.
